A casual, budget-friendly cafe smacked in the midst of the crowded Bugis Street. This dinner location was chosen by Doreen, which ended up becoming a surprise birthday treat for me.
Took me no time to go through their limited menu, basic cafe fare. Next thing to do was to fill in the order sheet and pay up at the counter.
My order was a Shrimp Ravioli *imagines a plate of dumpling-like pasta dough encasing shrimps. But i got a real surprise when it was served...
Shrimp Ravioli Pasta ($5.80)
Those were real wantons, no doubt. So their impression of a Shrimp Ravioli wasn't a pasta but prawn dumplings with pasta... kind of absurd but it was still a novelty having this hawker-western fusion. Neapolitan sauce was passable since it tasted like something from the canned sauces.
A Neapolitan Pasta for her, which was my dish minus the wantons.
Cheesecake ($4.10)
Another surprise. This dessert we shared actually turned out well! The soft, light cheese was much better than i could anticipate from such a casual cafe. Highly delectable; just wrongly paired with a tasteless biscuit base.
Green Tea ($2.80)
A suitable place for chit-chat and affordable food.
