Ichiban Boshi

Sushi and so much more. With their elegant ambience, quality food and affordable prices, this is agreeably one of the most suitable place to satisfy a sudden japanese food craving. Recently they revamped their menu, making me eager to try some new dishes.

The sushis here are seriously a steal! At just $1.90 per plate ($5.30 for premium), these fresh things ceratinly beat Sakae Sushi's hands down. Some of them even delight with sparks of creativity.

Chuka Hotate ($1.90) & Chuka Lidako ($1.90)

Salmon Maru ($5.30)

I took an executive set which comes completed with a bowl of rice, miso soup, appetiser and watermelon slice. And a healthy salad to go along.

Salmon Houbayaki Set ($17.90)

The leaf, fascinatingly, doesn't burn! And i've always wondered why. So here they play safe by laying it on a hotplate to intercept the flame, which may affect the rate of cooking the salmon. Perhaps thats why i was horrified to realise the fish was pre-deepfried... with a pathetic amount of miso paste slathered on it. Chawanmushi by the side was average as well.

Yasai Salad ($4.90)

Niku Udon ($9.90)

I choose to believe the letdown this time is purely a wrong choice made. I would return, definitely, but probably just not in the near time.
