A gathering with my fellow extkgians- Xinya, Jessica and Jeannie. My suggestion since i had an unused voucher for a free main course.
It was such a tough decision to make between the Grilled Fish Sambal or the Pesto saute Salmon. The trio strongly urged me to go for the former since I once had a bad experience of their salmon at the Changi Airport branch, but i still i still risked my chance to have the latter again.
Pesto Saute Salmon ($14.90)
So here's their salmon, gladly with improvement this time round. The fish certainly proved to be more moist than the charred and dry one at Changi Airport but unfortunately spolit by the weirdest sides- sourish cabbage shreds, corn bits and a mediocre mashed potato.
Pasta is the Swensen's next big thing among my friends, a switch from our previous baked rice craze during the secondary school days. All three of them chose to go for pastas, which come in decent portions.
Crayfish Pasta ($14.90)
Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawns ($10.30+3.90)
Jeannie and Xinya's crayfish pasta was poorly done, pasta overcooked and crayfish meat pathetic. Jessica's request for additionals prawns saw 5 ordinary little ones which could be fresher and bigger to justify the $3.90 paid.
Desserts in sizzling pans!
Specially served and assembled right infront of us. We watched in awe as the waiter triggered vigourous sizzles by drizzling the sauces over the slabs, then added the final toppings. whoa, looks so tempting!
Apple Crumble ($11.30)
A classic choice turned out to be a letdown. There was a big problem in the main crumble- too soft, bland and not one bit exciting. Only the interestingly crunchy apple chunks with a sinfully sweet butterscotch sauce managed to pull through.
White Chocolate Blondie ($11.60)
In contrast, the blondie went well for all of us. Putting aside the atrocious charred dryness of the base, we agreed that the blondie was real decent. I loved it especially with the generous shower of toasted nuts.
Service, so-so. We had a hard time getting the attentions of the servers to get the bill but it was good to have our water being filled frequently.
