Miss Clarity Cafe

I think the cheery outlook here has began to grow on me- three visits here before the release of O Level results, after the common tests, (and now) after the promotional exams respectively. Not the the food or service was fantastic but it proabably lies in the form of an invisible therapy.

colours & happy pictures, where happy people meet.

My post-exam lunch with Clarrisa saw a short-handed cafe with no exceptional service to comment about, except for the very unobservant waitresses. To my disappointment no value set lunches were served on weekends but you can upgrade any main courses to a set at an additional $3. I inhesitantly chose to forgo it after hearing that the dessert of the day was chocolate icecream.

Pan-Seared Dory with Garlic Mayonnaise ($7.50)

I went for a standard main course as usual; something simple and generally done how it should be. The dory was well-marinated with black pepper on one side then entirely floured up with a thick coating. Some parts were over-seasoned though.

Their hearty sides of tasty cabbage shreds and roasted potato chunks were probably the better aspect; and it sure came with a huge dollop of mayonnaise.

Time organisation was terrible. Clarissa's (less common) order only arrived about 20 minutes after my dory. Yes it may be prepared ala-order but i find the the long gap too much to forgive. So avoid the special items if lack the patience.

Chicken Cordon Bleu ($8.80)

After the long wait, this had to be something good. Cutting apart that breaded chicken thigh revealed a middle of rolled ham and melted cheese. Quite a novelty.

How can dessert-lovers like us skip the sweet-ending?

Warm Bread & Butter Pudding with Vanilla Icecream ($4.30)

This raved-about signature dessert did live up to its name indeed. A warm slab of bread-based delight featuring soft milky custard was sure a comforting thing to have, especially with vanilla sauce and icecream. Undoubtely one of the better renditions around.

Prices on the menu are nett (: If nothing at Bugis Junction meets your fancy, this is a good place to pop by. I will be back to try their pastas and risottos!
