Lao Di Fang

Mum insisted on a vegetarian lunch for my lunar birthday. My initial plan was to head to LivinGreens for some healthy fare but their mysterious closure landed us at this next available choice. A small humble teahut in the bugis area offering a great range of vegetarian dishes and meals.

We would always order a couple of dishes to go with a bowl of organic brown rice each. Mostly the usuals. I started off with two bowls of complimentary soup to warm my tummy- salted vegetable for today.

Assam Fish in Hotpot ($8)

Broccoli with Mushrooms ($7.50)

Stir-fried Seasonal French Beans ($6.80)

Crispy Tofu ($4)

Crispy Oyster Mushrooms ($4)

Dishes are all pretty decent, mostly accompanied with a variety of vegetables. I personally liked the french beans fried dry and slightly charred with tasty chai-poh and mushroom pieces. Classic favourite of the family is none other than the Crispy Tofu excellently deepfried without a hint of oily aftertaste. Juicy and light beancurd encased in a distinct crispy outer layer and topped with a savoury sauce, its our must-have item.
