Billy Bombers Classic

I first recommended this hip american chain to Dad at Marina Square and he sure enjoyed his giant sausage. So a trip to The Central with my parents turned out to be another round of dogs and burgers for us.

This is probably the only outlet where we get to enjoy an unobstructed night view of clarke quay as we tucked into hip american food, plus an open-concept kitchen behind. The usual orders for Dad and I, while mum picked from one of the set meal range.

Cream of Chicken Soup

Ole Fish n' Fries ($18.90 with set)

Crumbed fish fillet with seasonal veggies and chunky fries. There was a whole load of complaints from mum about the fish not being fresh and even the use of spices was insufficient to mask it. She then went on to rave about Fish & Co's The Best Fish & Chips in Town. It was that bad.

American Hound Dog ($11)

Dad's new love. Pick of beef dog without fail; claimed to real good and value for money with sides of coleslaw and chunky fries. But he never attempts to clear the latter.

Route 66 ($14.50)

My usual of chicken thigh topped with swiss cheese and a couple of sauteed sliced mushrooms, all between a burger bun. I'd always like how they do the toasting of this fluffy bread surfaced with sesame seeds. But today the chicken thigh on the tough dry side and chunky fries less crispy too. Boo.

Apart from the soup, mum's set also came with a drink & dessert- Ice Lemon Tea and a single scoop of Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake icecream. I couldn't resist stealing a few mouthfuls of it from her.

I find the food today not exactly up to the standards i've tried at Marina Square and the Cathay. Would probably avoid returning to this outlet unless there is a reason for a good river view.
