Spageddies

Our family used to patronise this classic italian kitchen pretty often in the past. Now they have reduced operations to just three outlets: Marina Square, Paragon and here in Tanglin Mall.

The spacious interior is dressed in the decidedly Italian tones of terra cotta, deep green and creamy white. You can even see observe the flames of their traditional wood-fired oven used for pizza-baking.

A friday night and the parents & i wanted some homey italian cuisine. After much consideration i took up the set dinner at $27.90 with soup, drink and dessert. Dad also ordered a salad starter to go with his favourite honey mustard dressing.

House Salad ($2.90)

Minestrone Soup

Crayfish Parmigiana ($18.90)

My preferred pasta dish here; a same order for dad as well. Always hot from the oven, this splendid combination of crayfish and light pasta goes awfully well for us. The olive-oil based spaghetti is subtly chewy and fragrantly tossed up with garlic slices, chilli flakes and chinese parsley.

Then there's the furthermore notable aspect. Under that blanket of mozzarella sheet revealed succulent morsels of oven-baked crayfish in a tangy neapolitan sauce. Excellent stuffs.

Spaghetti Aglio E Olio ($10.90)

Apple Cobbler

Why not called an apple crumble?

Nevertheless this was another joy to savour. Huge chunks of apples release sweet juices in every bite and the multi layers offered a good mixup, especially when icecream is invovled. The pastry forms a soft mush instead of the crunch a crumble should possess- so maybe it explains my doubt.

The set was inclusive of a tea too.
