A quiet cafe prominently situated in the middle of bustling Liang Seah Street. I remember Dad used to take us here for continental food when i was young. Contradictingly not a very popular place, largely due to its far from eye-catching outlook.

This time i introduced Peckhong over for lunch- in an almost empty restaurant. Worth a try is their $8.80 no-frills set lunch that comes with a salad, main and a drink. Nett-priced.

Salad

This is Peckhong's bowl of veggies under a dollop of thousand island. I picked the alternative Vinegritte Dressing, which turned out unbearably sour and intoxicating after a few bites. Liked the assortment of fresh cuts though.

Pork Chop

To have pork chops as my main is such a rare affair, but i did recall it to be pretty decent on my previous visit. Still edible. Could detect some intense marination in that slightly tough meat pieces but thankfully not an extreme case. Apart from the choking sodium level i did like the buttered veggies.

Seafood Baked Macaroni

A substantial dish with cream sauce and a variety of seafood. Squid, dory, prawns not exactly fresh and worse, no sign of the salmon mentioned.

Shared a dessert as planned.

Bread & Butter Pudding ($4)

Looks are deceiving. This dish may seem elaborate in design but was merely a dry slab lacking of custard. The absence of a spongy texture dismayed me as well.

They claim to serve good food, not fast food- that explains the long wait. Generally unimpressive meal which even the dessert failed to salvage.
