New York Deli

A walk around Terminal 1 found me a new dining distraction. Clearly not a very fitting piece to the foodcourt context (and contrasting its noodle stall neighbour), it was evidence of catering to the angmohs; and wanna-bes like me.

So they serve a typical deli fare of cakes and premade sandwiches- at a limited variety but extraordinary rates.

Grilled Chicken Ciabatta ($6.80)

Talk about economical dining at a foodcourt. I found this a total ripoff which could get me something more decent at Coffee Bean instead. A sandwich encasing some pathetic capsicum & bland chicken strips, taken off the fridge then pressed under a grill for a minute or so. An attempt to excite things up with a dollop of BBQ sauce was totally redundant.

Blueberry Cheesecake ($4.95)

Not giving up i grabbed a slice of cake as well. Seemed more american style with its density, cheese richness and use of sourcream. Plus an interesting jam infusion layer at the base- which was softer and different from the usual ones. At least more reasonably price too.

Such food would probably be able to satisfy some hungry small boy but certainly impossible to impress the westerners. They would be better off patronising Coffee Bean, Starbucks or even Delifrance.
