Changing Appetites
Nestled between Swensen's and Carl's Jr at Marina Square, the outlet combines western-styled cooking with a Japanese twist. Its got a special appeal with the funky outlook and spacious seatings.
big vibrant wall murals
I appropriately tucked into one of their new Tex-mex Special sets with, soup, garlic toast, dessert, and free-flow of drinks- thank god. Homebrewed iced lemon tea for me.
This is the first time i was actually enthusiastic about my soup.
Tomato Soup with Garlic Toast
Declared a good shot! The thickness wowed, with an cheerful orange hue and a tangy tomato flavour. Slurped it up to the last heartwarming drop.
Tex-mex Cajun Salmon Steak ($10.90)
Their portions were nothing to complain about. Its an entire plateful of yellow savoury rice and sauteed vegetables topped with an unexpectedly large fish. The salmon fared well, slightly dry but gladly acceptable.
I couldn't help but compare their salsa with Hot Tomato Express, which proved that they were obviously no match for that mango version.
Tex-mex Cajun Ribs Fajitas ($13.90)
Served with flour tortillas and a blob of sour cream for meat-wrapping purposes.
Chocolate Fudge Cake with Icecream
Portion-wise, this is clearly dissapointing. So their secret to generous mains were from the scrimping of the desserts, hah. This super tiny triangular slice of chocolate cake sure made the ball of vanilla icecream look big. Besides being pretty moist and coated with a thin fudge layer, there was nothing else to comment about.
No fetish for tex-mex? Don't fret. They offer basic set lunches separately at just $8.90 with 2 choices of main course to choose from per day. Plus the whole range of mudpies and desserts i've yet to sample, i'm sure to be back for more!
