Astons Specialties

As expected, a long queue already formed when we arrived at 6.30pm. Dad, Sis & i practised some patience and finally got seated after an hour. They seemed to have gone through form of revamping, as detected by the row of new lamps. Looks very much like those found at Swensen's.

Chargrilled Salmon ($12.90)

The distinct grill lines looked promising but then again, looks can be deceiving. Yes a nice charred taste on the surface was brought through but inside was a dry and unfresh disaster. With their negligence in proper marination i could still taste fishyness and had to request for more lemon to mask it. Even that cream herb sauce didn't help. My sides of garden veggie and corn were both passable but a tad overdone.

Grilled Fish with Herbs ($6.50)

A big-looking thin piece of dory coated in a creamy herb sauce. I'm not trying to pick things here but it was obviously battered then seared rather than grilled. Nothing fantastic.

Sis was also disappointed because they ran out of baked potato- not once but twice so she got a house salad and coleslaw instead.

Pork Chops ($8.50)

Probably the best order this time. Two thick slabs of pork!

Not only was it value for money, it was certified by Dad to be even better than New York New York and even Cafe Cartel's version! I found the firm chewy texture not too bad for a non-porkchop fan like me.

Good prices i would say, with a popularity not totally justified. Be prepared to pay for water at $0.30 each. no refill.
