Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge

Tucked in a little corner of Takashimaya, only few would observe its existence. A typical tai-tai hangout shining with quaint and elegance, perfect for some afternoon hightea in between shopping.

Be sure to make reservations or get caught in the queue.

Took a seat along the windows, where we feasted our eyes with the view of bustling orchard road and those delicate Royal Copenhagen hand-painted porcelain tableware.

Petty Shells with Shrimps & Asparagus ($7.90)

These bite-sized tarts were merely a joy to look at. Cute little things, yet of a lousy tart quality and bland watery filings. To be missed.

Salmon & Potato Gratin ($19.90)

Pan-searing was quite well-done with the skin entirely crispy. Cream sauce and potatoes were unfortunately more on the cloying side.

Selfish Pasta ($20.90)

The menu reads: " so good, you'd be too selfish to share!" I'm afraid not, since i actually managed to grab a little from every part of it. The tomato-based sauce was indeed delicious but the pasta was hard and crayfish absolutely unfresh.

Copenhagen Scones ($6.90)

Bestest scones ever! Fluffy, mildly fragrant baked wonders complemented by fresh cream and their raspberry jam spread- most probably made-in-house as well. Every bite is a delight!

Marble Cheesecake ($4.90)

My choice is none other than cheesecakes. I must say this this is a pretty note-worthy slice; cheese soft and chocolate rich. Especially liked its atypical base made with butter and almond bits.

What a charming place to spend a lazy afternoon. I will be back, for more cakes and scones definitely.
