Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie

Dad gave me a pleasant hightea surprise on my lunar birthday. Back to the beautiful Robertson Quay for more of Chef Pang Kok Keong's exquisite creations. He's one chef i'm really impressed with.

The cakes display here did take some resemblence to Bakerzin's, but they sure possess way more substance. Every piece is made fresh in-house (i suppose) unlike Bakerzin's mass-produced factory cakes. Furthermore, these charming slices are all labelled with a list of their components and cocoa content.

I had a hard time making my choice, everything looked equally appealing and pleasurable to have. There was this pretty giant-sized Strawberry Macaron i wanted but its hefty price tag was a put-off. So much for being a limited edition. We ended up sharing two of dad's pick.

Two stunning quality picks.

Macha ($6.50)

Macha meets marscaporne to give a mild mousse, enrapturing moist macha sponge and a touch of chestnut cream. All on a crispy crushed greentea biscuit and almond base. Now i can unmistakably declare this as one of the best greentea desserts i've had. Pure delight for the macha fan.

Walnut Cheesecake ($6)

I never knew walnuts, cheese and maple syrup could result in such a divine combination. This is fine cheese with a dense yet smooth effect, a gap between the thick and the light; accompanied with my favourite walnuts and a delectable infusion of sweet syrup. You can imagine how much i enjoyed it.

Monkey King ($5)

Cakes must be enjoyed over tea. My green tea with jasmine was a little too mild for me while dad's Ruby Chai turned out to be overwhelming. Will stick to my rosebuds in future.

A thumbs up dessert place! I see no reason why i shouldn't revisit.
