New York New York
My birthday celebration with the Animal family- Sarah, Clarissa and Huiling. Situated in the prominent and crowded Citylink Mall, New York New York stands out with its loud furnishing and seemingly comfy cushioned booths and seats. We were lucky to secure a semi-enclosed "cabin" with more privacy.
New Yorker ($7.90)
All hail the almighty New Yorker.
My all-time-favourite without a doubt, this sandwich deserved to be hailed and loved. The excellent grill ensured bread toasted to perfection, futher matched with simple yet delicious fillings... honey baked ham, honey mustard, grilled vegetables. how neat.
All three of them ordered a pasta each. Commendable, their pastas are affordable yet generous enough to fill. I tasted the Alfredo Tagliatelle which was a little too hard but passably well-coated with sauce.
Tagliatelle Carbonara with Bacon & Mushrooms ($10.90)
Tagliatelle Alfredo with Crispy Fish ($10.90)
Spaghetti Bolognese with Giant Meatballs ($10.90)
Dessert galore.
We were almost completely full but still whacked for desserts. Naturally irresistible (: I picked a cheesecake off the display for myself, while the rest shared two menu orders.
New York Cheesecake ($5.90)
It looked exactly like the one at Bakerzin. Perhaps thats the reason why i was instantly drawn into ordering it. Their version featured similar wet moist cheese but had an extra vanilla punch to it- an artificial one. Base was just plain lousy.
Mudpie with Ice Cream ($6.80)
They ought to revise through the definition of a mudpie. An odd combination of brownie in a tartshell served with vanilla icecream is nowhere near. Huge letdown.
Deep Fried Mars Bar ($7.90)
Sinful chocolate bar deep-fried with a puffy coating and served with strawberry icecream. Try Chippy's instead.
Pastas are reasonably priced and worth a try, just skip the desserts. Will return for main courses, and of course the wonderful SANDWICHES!
