Modesto's Again

We returned merely a few days later with full anticipation to attempt their set lunch. Priced at $18.80, a soup, pasta/pizza, dessert and coffee/tea sounded like a fairly decent deal- if only the choices were less disappointing. Eventually only Dad had it, skiping the vegetable fusilli for his Vongole at a $2 topup.

Focaccia Bread

Cream of Mushroom

Brown is a positive hint to which the real mushrooms were blended in and not those dunked with flour. Not too bad.

Spaghetti Vongole ($20.80)

The same vongole dish he had with this special chilli infusion. Was is me orhad the pasta serving really shrunk in portion?

Smoked Salmon Focaccia Sandwich ($15)

Since the set proved little incentive to take, i decided to go for the sandwiches after seeing one on a caucasian customer's plate nearby. Uh-oh, seemed like a wrong choice made.

I could fully accept their homemade foccacia bun- sufficient in size and grilled on my favourite sandwich press, that mild mozzarella cheese layer though not flowy to the desirable extent BUT the smoked salmon was way off standards. Fishy and furthermore paired with unfresh tomatoes, it was simply the worst i've came across. One star rated solely for the bread and cheese.

Fruit Salad with Grand Marnier

A bowl of chopped melons with a liquor dash for desserts turned out better than it sounded. What a total contradiction.. one meal they fascinate me with the best smoked salmon pasta and the very next i am disgusted with the worst smoked salmon sandwich. I am speechless.
