Dinner at The CaffeBar

A piece of good salmon is so hard to find these days.

It seems like this ocean dish have rocketed in popularity and publicated in almost every cafe-fare menu. Connectively it resulted to a commodity label, and many rampant versions tarnishing the image of this health-boosting oily fish. Not very good news to hear.

The secret to winning is to beat that conventional depiction and formulate an outshining style of your own- which they did, and in fact did very well. Teriyaki salmon would certainly ring a bell but how familiar does wasabi cream & soy-honey sound?

Medallion of Salmon with Wasabi & Soy-Honey ($19.80)

A pair of panseared salmon coils served with oil-tossed mesclun.

I loved the way the two unbeatable sauces coordinated so well. It was surprising how contrasting flavours of spicy wasabi can create tastebud wonders with the sweet-savoury soy honey. They just had to reduce on the grease and this dish comes close to perfection.

Cream of Vegetable

Even the soup deserved some special mention. A bowl comes with each order of Cusine Set, along with a coffee/tea and free flow of bread. Palatably creamy without binging on the chunks.

Undoubtedly a place with true substance.
